Pannonhalma
We started out with a trip to Pannonhalma. This is probably one of my favourite places in Hungary. It is a monestary that also has a winery. The wine tour and tour of the monestary are both fantastic. We didn't do those this time around because we did them last time, but if you visit Hungary and you can make your way out there it is fantastic. The highlight, besides perhaps wine tasting, is the newly done restaurant. We discovered it last time we were there with the Sills and it was top of the list for this trip. We were fortunate in that the day we decided to head there for dinner also happened to be John (my brother) and Eniko's 10th wedding anniversary! Congrats to John and Eniko; 10 years is something to celebrate. In addition it fell on women's day. Johnny and Max got Eniko and I flowers. Emily went on her first bus ride out there (so we could all enjoy some wine). Unfortunately we couldn't spend much time walking around the grounds as it started raining once we arrived, but we had a wonderful time at dinner.
Eto Gyor
On Saturday we spent the day in Gyor again. The highlight was the Eto Gyor football (soccer) game. John, Max, Emily and I set out for the football game that evening. Between John's Hungarian and the ticket agent's English we managed to get our tickets - when the agent asked where we wanted to sit John just asked him to sell us what he thought was best (the ticket agent did see I had Emily strapped in the carrier). We ended up with one ticket short which meant Mark got stuck outside the stadium. Since Max and John were the first in (and didn't seem to look back to help) Mark just looked at the guy and said he didn't speak Hungarian. The ticket guy picked up a ticket from the ground and let Mark in (!?). Our seat was in section N so we headed up the stairs to find out seats. We arrived at section N to find it was occupied (almost completely full) with the hard core Eto fans. They had drums, a leader with a bull horn and not a single person was sitting. We decided we might be better off in a lower level. We headed back down. When we passed the 5 security people who let us in they were all chuckling and pointed down the stairs (you'd think they would have mentioned that when we arrived, or the ticket agent might have sold us better seats!). Eto won the game 2-1. We all had a fantastic time. Emily sat up and enjoyed herself, eat her dinner (nursing at a football game was an interesting experience) and had two naps (one was interrupted by the first goal). All in all it was a blast!
In the interest of getting the blog post up with some pictures I will send the rest of the Hungary update next time. We are all packed and ready to go to Turkey tomorrow! We can't wait to see Mel, Mike, Libby, Oscar and Lucy!

Mark's awesome photo of the first Eto goal. (You can see the ball going in the net and the Eto player is on the ground as he headed the ball in)
Ah, Pannonhalma, how I miss you! Way to make the Sill family jealous right off the start. Wish we were there with you.
